About this event

As a business owner do you:

  • struggle to understand how the employment legislation works, and wonder why should you should really care?
  • wait until an employment related issue comes up only to find that you are on the “back foot”?
  • have verbal arrangements in place and believe that everything is and will be okay as you are protected?
  • rely on your payroll/business advisor to be across employment legislation on your behalf and that you do not need to worry?
  • put HR in the “too hard” basket and avoid putting HR systems in place due to the potential costs?

If you can relate to these questions and more, then come and join us for a simple and practical look at the employment legislation as it relates to business owners.

In this session

We will take a practical journey into the world of workplace legislation and how they are all connected. Using easy to understand language, we will also explore the obligations for both employer and employee, along with the role of the regulators, courts and commissions.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Fair Work Act and Regulations
  • Work Health Safety Act and Regulations
  • Other Key Employment-Related Legislation (eg EEO, Bullying, Harassment, Privacy, Working with Children, etc)
  • Awards and Enterprise Agreements
  • Contracts of Employment
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Small Business Unfair Dismissal Code
  • Role of the Fair Work Ombudsman, Fair Work Commission, SA Employment Tribunal, Equal Opportunity Commission and Safe Work SA

After the session, you will have a greater understanding of the workplace legislation framework, what you need to have in place as a minimum, and the impacts on your business when employment legislation is placed in the “too hard” basket.

During the session you will also receive tips that will save on legal costs.

This workshop is supported by the Southern Business Mentoring Program. If you would like to arrange a one-on-one appointment with Evelyn please find out more here..
